PS5 Extended Storage BETA Quick Review Video

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

1TB Samsung 980 PRO & EKWB M.2 NVMe Heatsink

Recently, Sony released the beta for many of us PS5 owners. The update allowed us to be able to add an internal ssd for extra storage space. It has been a few weeks of me using a 1TB Samsung 980 ssd and I absolutely love it. The load times for all of the PS5 games I have played have actually loaded a little faster than the ssd that is manufactured with the PS5. I was hesitant about upgrading my ssd at first, because I didn't know if it would brick my system due to this being a beta, but it has done an excellent job and no issues so far.

Also, please be aware when buying an internal ssd you must buy a heatsink if it is not included. The heatsink prevents the drive from overheating, and causing damage to your system. If you are trying the beta Sony put a claim out stating that they are not responsible for any damages due to a third party additional ssd.

Below is the heatsink and SSD shown in our video
